Review Black Widow

In a world with a talking raccoon and tree, MCU created the most unrealistic film in their repertoire. This tribute to one of their most popular and greatest characters is sadly an unnecessary viewing.

Natasha Romanoff aka Black Widow confronts the darker parts of her ledger when a dangerous conspiracy with ties to her past arises. Pursued by a force that will stop at nothing to bring her down, Natasha must deal with her history as a spy and the broken relationships left in her wake long before she became an Avenger.

Cate Shortland (“Berlin Syndrome” “Lore”) directs this action-packed story where a few details of the life of Natasha Romanoff are revealed. The many problems of the film start with the story which is uninteresting because it is set between before a film, we already know the outcome of (“Avengers Infinity Wars) and doesn’t bring a lot to the depth of the character. More interesting would have been to learn how she was recruited by Clinton Barton to join Shields. The second problem, which is a recurrent problem in the MCU, is the villain who is so unnecessary boring and not at all treating which leads to the fact that there is never a sense of danger for the characters. The last point is the number of crazy explosions the characters survive, characters that do not have any superpowers and are basically humans which make for some absurd scenes of accidents that seems life threating but with zero consequences.

The cast is amazing with Florence Pugh, Rachel Weisz, David Harbour, Ray Winstone (with a horrible Russian accent) but the script being what it is doesn’t give them a chance to shine. Scarlett Johansson deserved better for her last entry as Natasha Romanoff.
