Cannes 2024 came to a close with it’s first American Palme D’or since Terrence Malick in 2011. Sean Baker won for his third feature. The second price went to Indian director Payal Kapadia for her new film All We Imagine as Light. Mohammad Rasoulof, who fled a 8 year’s prison ban in Iran received a special prize for his new film The Seed of the Sacred Fig.
This year’s competition was presided by Barbie director Greta Gerwig and composed of Spanish director Juan Antonio Bayona, Turkish actor-screenwriter Ebru Ceylan, Italian actor Pierfrancesco Favino, French actor Omar Sy, American actor Lily Gladstone, Japanese director Hirokazu Kore-eda, Lebanese actor-director Nadine Labaki and French actor Eva Green.
